XDA Profile Mechanical Keyboard Keycaps in Custard and Mouse Grey Colours for 68 to 100 Key Layouts
This keycap set provides a complete replacement solution for mechanical keyboard enthusiasts looking to refresh the appearance and feel of their typing device. Designed specifically for keyboards with 68, 75, 98, or 100 key layouts, these keycaps feature the XDA profile – a uniform height and shape across all keys that creates a consistent typing plane. Manufactured from plastic and available in distinct colour variations, this set includes every necessary keycap for full keyboard coverage. The package dimensions of 20 x 5 x 3 cm indicate a compact shipping format that protects the keycaps during transit.
Features and Construction
The XDA profile design distinguishes these keycaps from the more common OEM or Cherry profiles, offering a different typing angle and surface contact area. This uniform height profile suits typists who prefer less variation between different key rows. The plastic material ensures compatibility with the vast majority of mechanical keyboard switches using the MX-style stem design.
Material and Build
Constructed entirely from plastic, these keycaps provide the standard weight and texture expected from aftermarket keyboard components. The material choice ensures compatibility with mechanical switches using the standard MX-style cross-shaped stem without requiring modifications. Plastic keycaps offer a balance between durability, cost, and typing sound characteristics, making them suitable for both daily typing and gaming applications.
Size and Practical Fit
The keycaps are designed specifically for keyboards with 68, 75, 98, or 100 key layouts, covering the majority of compact and full-sized mechanical keyboard configurations. This compatibility range makes the set versatile for users with different keyboard sizes. The XDA profile creates a uniform surface that some typists find reduces finger travel between different key rows, potentially increasing typing comfort during extended sessions.
Uses and Placement
Keycap replacement serves both functional and aesthetic purposes for mechanical keyboard users. Beyond simply refreshing worn lettering or changing keycap colours, different profiles like XDA can alter typing feel and potentially reduce finger strain. The colour options provided allow users to personalise their keyboard’s appearance according to preference or to match other computer peripherals.
Event or Professional Use
For workplace or professional environments, keycap sets can refresh keyboards that have developed shiny spots from extended use or replace damaged caps. The uniform XDA profile may benefit touch typists who rely on consistent key positioning. The colour options – particularly the grey variations – offer a more subdued appearance suitable for office settings compared to brightly coloured gaming keyboards.
Everyday Home Use
At home, these keycaps allow keyboard customisation without replacing the entire keyboard unit. Users can change the look of their mechanical keyboard to match room décor or personal style preferences. The yellow XDA option provides a brighter accent colour, while the mouse grey variants offer more neutral tones. The compatibility with multiple keyboard layouts means users with different sized keyboards in the same household can potentially use these keycaps.
Benefits and Buying Value
Purchasing a complete keycap set represents a cost-effective alternative to buying individual keycaps or replacing an entire keyboard. The XDA profile offers a different typing experience from standard profiles, potentially reducing adjustment time when switching between different keyboard types. The included colour variations provide options for personal expression through peripheral customisation.
Reuse and Low Maintenance
Plastic keycaps are simple to clean using standard keyboard cleaning methods, including compressed air, soft brushes, or mild cleaning solutions. Should individual keycaps become damaged over time, the uniform XDA profile means replacement caps from the same set will maintain consistency. The complete set packaging ensures users receive all necessary keycaps for their specified keyboard layout without needing to source missing keys separately.
Why Choose This Product
This keycap set addresses the specific need for XDA profile keycaps compatible with 68 to 100 key mechanical keyboards. The colour options – Mouse My Grey (original factory finish), Mouse My Grey XDA, and Mouse Yellow XDA – provide distinctive aesthetic choices. As a complete set packaged together, users avoid the complexity of purchasing individual keycaps separately. The plastic construction ensures compatibility with standard MX-style mechanical switches without requiring special tools or adapters for installation.
